I love giving plenty of opportunities for hands on learning to my little guy and birthdays are no exception! Check out my little one's 3rd birthday party...
Those that know me know that I tend to go a little overboard when it comes to my kid's birthday parties. I spend a lot of time (but very little money) drawing and creating the details that make for a great themed birthday. While I'm not going to go into detail talking about all the little things I put together for this party, I did want to show you how I got the kids and guests involved in this hands on celebration.
When the guests arrived, they were prompted to leave a happy birthday message to our little artist.

With this being a little artist party, I wanted to make sure there were plenty of ways for the little guests to be creative. These two tables are full of crayons, markers, paper, chalk & chalkboard, glue, pom-poms, popsicle sticks and anything else I could find in my craft closet.
Under the table there are 10 large garbage bags full of balloons that we let loose later in the day for the kids to play with and pop. We also had a DJ playing music throughout the party to get the kids dancing!
And, for those who are interested, the pictures above the table were drawn by my then 2 year old. I framed them in black construction paper and labeled them so it would look like a mini art gallery.

On the other side of the room, we set up long tables with more art materials and easels made from cardboard boxes.
The children really loved having their faces painted by a local teenager/face-painter!
My little one's favorite table was the decorate your own cupcake station! He decorated and ate more cupcakes than I care to admit!
While I had a great time putting this party together for my little guy, I know my 3 year old (and all his friends) had a blast! All I had to do was take one look at the aftermath to know....
